Gloria Simons, DVM

Janet Behm

Dr. Gloria Simons grew up in southwest Virginia with her mother and three brothers.  After graduation from high school she enlisted in the US Army where she achieved and was inducted into the Corp of the Non Commissioned officer.  During her time in the military she was able to spend time in Germany, Texas, North and South Carolina and California.  She also met and married her best friend, Michael – they have been together 17 years and share two wonderful sons, Tyler (15) and Miles (4). Dr. Simons began her career in Veterinary Medicine in the military in 1999 while attached to the military medical command in Texas. Dr. Simons later left the military and graduated from the VA/MD regional college of Veterinary medicine in 2010.

Dr. Simons enjoys spending time with her family going to the beach, watching movies, and taking walks. Dr. Simons also enjoys the companionship of her two dogs, Freya (10 year old boxer mix) and Saphira (2 year old Labrador). After spending over 6 years in the corporate veterinary medical field, Dr. Simons is enjoying private practice.

“It is wonderful to be in a practice where I have the freedom to really help people and protect the animals that they love so much.  When I learned about the outreach that is done at the Mohnacky Animal Hospital locations through the Helping Paws program, helping military families stay together and stay strong, I found a perfect fit to all the things that I hold important; family, service, and the special bond we have with our pets.  I knew that this was where I was supposed to be.”

Mona King, DVM

Dr. Mona Nicole King received her Bachelor’s Degree from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and her DVM degree from Western University of Health Sciences. As an undergraduate she participated in Polo, Thoroughbred, Swine, and Leopard Tortoise enterprises, and sang in the choir at her church. In veterinary school her passion for horses continued and she showed competitively in the Arabian Horse Circuit. Some of her most rewarding experiences included shelter work and providing veterinary services for people who could not otherwise afford veterinary care. She performed countless examinations, spays and neuters while working with World Vets in Nicaragua. During vet school Dr. King married her high school sweetheart and they now reside in Carlsbad with their fur children – Scout, a Belgian Malinois Mix, Oliver, a Toy Australian Shepherd, Chia Pet, a Sphynx, and Safari, a Savannah Cat. They enjoy hiking, the dog beach, and training for sheep herding. Other favorite activities include riding horses, kitty snuggles, paddle boarding, hiking, water sports, yoga, and reading.

Dr. King’s favorite aspects of veterinary medicine are communicating with clients. She strives to make that vital connection with every person that walks into the hospital door through patience, empathy, and kindness –that is her personal goal during each and every appointment.
